That's just the way I like it. I'm not intimidated by a steep learning curve. The beauty comes once you master something and can pull off some impressive things with it due to a high skill cap.

No doubt about that. Individual skill level becomes progressively negligible compared to skillful teamwork. SC will definitely be more team oriented and not just an arena fighter.

I'm not dead set on buying "the best" joystick. Like I said I may stick with keyboard and mouse if it proves to be on par with a joystick. I just feel like it's going to be more fun flying with a joystick. Not to mention flying with a joystick is likely to be more practical. With enough practice someone could probably get good at flying with a laptop touch pad, and that would have a huge learning curve, but there's just no practicality in that.

Ideally I would like a setup that allows for great maneuvering and aim, while minimizing the amount of peripherals I have to use. I saw a picture someone posted on SC forums where he had a mouse and keyboard, dual joysticks, xbox controller, rudder pedals, steering wheel and some kind of pen touch pad thingy about the size of a mouse pad - and he used them all. O_o

My wingman flies with M&K and mouse for headtracking and he still kicks more ass than some of the guys with crazy ass set ups.
