Looks like some passive application that has this kinda of timer to loop.
Check updaters, AV scanners, and so on.
Start you machine in security mode and try run the game.
Use the eletive mode and run only things you are sure you will need, network, graphics, keyboard, mouse, sound, the rest, say no and try run the game.
Run the game in windowed mode, open with the windows task manager.
Keep an eye in the game and in the monitor. Order the process tab by CPU and see if you can see which one is peaking when you are having these freezes.
There is a software named speedfan. Use it to see the fan speeds, cpu, gpu temperatures are ok.
Check your gpu manufacturer and get the gpu monitor for your gpu. http://www.evga.com/precision/
    Hope it helped.
    PS: sorry about my english.

I think i keep moving, playing LA i know i come back dead often enough when im jumping off high things and it does it.

A reinstall of the game is on my list of stuff to try this weekend. i'll give that a go before i try to format and install of the OS, but i foresee a fresh install in my future.

You might also want to try drinking your own piss while looking at it. Bear Grylls does it and it works for him

if you keep moving in-game during your freeze I would point towards an application issue. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Edit: i picked up a few xtra frames on my fresh format. Always a good idea. Always

Don't search too far, it's just the remnants of the flickering bug. I have the same problem dropping to zero fps then getting it up and sometimes it brings the old flickering crap again.

Nothing you can do if you ask me it's bad coding.

don't know if it was a "new" SP1 or something but when i checked for updates this morning it was there. My PC auto updates every week at like 3am Monday, so it was something that was put out there since then.

i don't known if it was the re-install of the game or the update but after playing for a few hours this morning it never did the freeze thing.

hopefully i didn't just jinx it... fucking voodoo magic man! O_o
