You're thoughts? I personally think it was a good move but the damage may have been done, we'll see. It would have been interesting to see if the planned DRM led to cheaper games for the xbox (much like steam), but ultimately I think it was too soon and console gamers weren't ready.

What do you think of Cliffy B's Response? Is he right?

"N-no." she trembled, knowing that she had to be strong.
    "But baby, I've changed!"
"No. I'm with someone new now. For years I told you what I wanted from you, but you ignored me. We're over, but now that you see me with someone new, you think you can make a cheap attempt of emulating him to get me to like you? You obviously haven't changed, you are only looking out for yourself."

I say fuck Microsoft. If the community didn't outcry they would have kept going with it. "Oh sorry, we didn't know you didn't want DRM, we'll turn it off".

I will never buy another MS console again.

Good to hear but doesn't really affect me.

    I already own a gaming device better than a 360 or ps3.

    It's called my PC.

If I get a console I wait at least a year for games to come out and prices of bundles to drop.
Also I want to wait and see which one is better performing. I had thought the ps4 might have the edge like with the ps3, and if it is it will be much better value.
I also want to see if kinect stops being compulsory. I cover my webcam because I know that it is easy to spy on people through it.

    *random rant*
Although it was worse with 24 hour check in because fitting a small memory space that could contain 24 hours of footage and then send and flash that seemed way too easy to be implemented. And microsoft could sell info for a lot of money if they proposed it first. Not like the government would be cool with secretly skimming info on you every day, oh wait the NSA.
But this is all probably bollocks :P Just that we live in an age where it can be done.

I understand most of you are generally PC gamers primarily, myself included. However, the reality is that whatever happens in the console world effects the PC world and vice versa. I enjoy gaming. period. Whether its from my PC or my TV I love it all. So for the sake of discussion, let us assume we all love our PCs.

I find it interesting that people are so readily to accept Steam, and a possible Steam Box with all the same DRM Microsoft wanted to accomplish but are up in arms over Microsoft's version. Now, I'm not saying the Xbox One should have kept the DRM in fact as I mentioned before, I don't think that console gamers are ready for the type DRM that both Steam and the former Xbox One supports.

There is a discussion to be had, and in my view the discussion is this; Will more studios shut down as a result of same 'ol, same 'ol as Cliffy B is insinuating? Will game studios now be forced to continue the same hated practices of paid for DLC to make up losses on used game sales? Are we in for 7 - 10 years of the same business practices we saw the last 7 years in the console world? Will this drive more people to PC gaming as we have been seeing the past year? Why isn't that growth to PC Gaming hindered by the DRM policies that current exist on the PC? Should have Microsoft backtracked?

A note about the NSA arguments. While they are funny and true, Keep in mind everyone of you probably have a cell phone that falls under the same scrutiny. In fact I bet your cell phone invades your privacy currently more than a console ever could. As for me the NSA can kiss my ass, but let's not pretend it hasn't been happening since the Patriot Act and that all of a sudden it's a new thing.

    Anyways, your thoughts?

EDIT: I too think it's bullshit the kinect has to be plugged in to play. I see why they want that, but I really don't think kinect can make a gaming experience better. Especially after something like Oculus Rift launches.

I doubt it was because GameStop not taking preorders. If a person wanted it, they could got somewhere else. It's probably more that there was a ton of Xbox users converting to PS4 over it and the PS4 dominating the entire preorder charts. Noting says get your shit together like getting your ass kicked I guess.

There are some downsides to this. For one, the sharing stuff that was going to happen no longer will. Additionally, there's nothing stopping the games from requiring an internet connection-many of them have already mentioned cloud computing, which would require it. Plus, now that it's back to the status quo, if you will, there is less potential for competitive innovation in some aspects.
Not that I support the former DRM policies, but just pointing out that there are ups and downs to both.
Personally, I don't think the always-on Kinect is too big of a deal, because unplugging the system entirely is always an option if you're worried about it, which people seem to overlook. The fact that it's mandatory annoys me somewhat, but I can see the reasoning.
