I really liked Phoenix.
Definitely says something. It's forgetable and disposable music. Will the Dark Side Of The Moon ever get old? Will Reelin In The Years ever get old? Riders On The Storm? etc.etc. No. They are classics because of the music. Because it was something special. Not because of the appearance of the band members. Not because they were millionaires living ridiculously lavish lifestyles (they weren't....). It was all music. 5 guys getting together in a studio and displaying their talent. Telling stories. Writing concepts.
Will people talk about Skrillex in 40 years? No.
It's this Mountain Dew, Slim Jim, 720 NoScope Headshot, Bass Dropping, Quick Fix generation that is fucking up music.
I did too. United and Alphabetical were fantastic albums bro.
well this is one of my all-time favorites
This guy doesn't have much, but some of what he does have is really cool- he released a new one today.
Been hooked on the new Mercenary:
Also listening to tons of Donald Fagen's album Kamakiriad from '93.
Fucking incredible jazz album:
The one-man-band guy made a new song, pretty impressive.
Been listening to the fuck out of these guys lately:
All are absolutely incredible musicians. I've seen both Minneman and Guthrie and was always blown away by their work.
More of Guthrie's ridiculous playin':
Separate names with a comma.
