    Alright, server's back up and ARS was rolled back to the previous version. It'll be a while before we can be sure that was the problem, since it took a few hours last night for it to go to pot, but it seems to be playable.

    thanks nano, I suppose we will have to monitor the ars magica forums before we update again.

    Yea, I've been pretty unimpressed with the dev so far. :P I've been watching that thread since the server went up, and every time someone came in with a bug report he'd just say, "That's been fixed in the next release." Finally the next release comes around with all these awesome bug fixes, and... it also breaks a ton of other stuff. He seems to be doing closed-beta testing or something, but because of how he's structured his public releases, we have to wait way too long for him to release fixes to game-breaking bugs (like, some people not being able to craft spells)

    At least it didn't crash as hard as it did earlier today, it's managing to grind its way through the clean stop process.

    I'm going to check the threads for the mods we updated, see if it's coming from any of them. This is driving me crazy.

    I think this last time may have been partially caused by me. Earlier today I was out exploring and logged off out there although thought that the new chunk was done loading. At the time I was the only one on so didn't have to worry about making to slow for others =p.

    Anyways I wonder if it was having issues with that since it was only a minute or so before all of the monsters and players were pretty much frozen for a bit before it eventually crashed.

    Right now our number one suspect is something going going wrong at chunk gen - we have numerous mods that modify the terrain generation, and a few of them are notoriously unstable and/or inefficient. We're trying to confirm if that's the problem and pinpoint what mod(s) might be responsible, 'cus we might be able to configure it better or remove the problem mod. But still not sure that we're not barking up the wrong tree with that line of thought.

    A lot of clients are crashing today, though the server is (unusually ;)) doing just fine. It's a lot harder to troubleshoot client problems, because it can be anything from Java needing to be updated, to insufficient memory allocated to Tekkit, to a legit bug in a mod. If you need help figuring out your issue, you can usually find your crash reports in

    AppData/Roaming/.techniclauncher/tekkitlite/crash-reports

    Something is messed up with ARS, last week I could not use the Empowerment table to level up, when I did I would crash.

    Now I can use the empowerment table, but I cannot use the Inscription table or I crash. Now this wouldn't be so bad but somehow my spell book disappeared from my inventory when I was lagging really bad earlier. So I cannot remake my spells.

    Inscription tables are currently crashing for everyone. The only lead I've been able to find is an ID conflict with Redpower and/or ThermalExpansion, but when I looked through our configs, there's no conflicts.

    At this point I don't really know what else to do. This mod has been an endless source of problems for us. :frown:
