Got my HOTAS set up yesterday and did a couple test flights. I REALLY enjoyed it for War Thunder and thought it was meh for PS2. Honestly though, I ran out of resources to finish test flying and I completely spaced they had a VR.

For War Thunder it was great tho. It took me about an hour to get used too and i had to rebind my buttons a couple times to get to what I like. Let me tell ya tho, after that first hour, I felt like i had more control of my aircraft and better aim. It was awesome.

Some observations for war thunder set up:

    - Make sure you bind a key for push to talk in TS.
    - Choose to have your mouse control air craft + view as opposed to only view. I say this because even though I told the game to auto center the camera, it seems like it ignored this flag. If you so much as touch your mouse during gameplay you have manually put the camera back to where you like it. quite frustrating.
    - Simplified controls are much easier to use (obviously). I really recommend over realistic until you get your aim down.
    - Test fly the shit out of your plane before you enter arcade.
    - fly in first person mode, and maybe set up a button to switch to 3rd on the fly

Other than that everything worked out, and I'm happy with my purchase. Thanks for everyone suggestions and I'll see ya in game!

I don't know if I can fly with a joystick in Arcade in third person.
I used to switch to first person all the time when I'm closing in on a target but not anymore. I've been trying all kinds of different things to see what would work best for me and ended up going back to the original settings with M&K.
I don't see how the joystick would be better for when you're in third person.

As for PS2, I've tried the stick back in beta and didn't even bother to continue. M&K is a must.

I've been thinking about using a stick for PS2, but if I read your comments I seriously doubt that's a good idea.
I've tried using my old N52 to fly my Scythe, but somehow half of the controls weren't responding. Now is a N52 hardly a real stick (it doesn't even have a stick, just a lot of buttons and a D-pad), but how can flying be more frustrating with a stick than with M&K? I've heard for the past few years now that if you're serious with flying, you go stick. Is PS2 the only game to kill that rule?

    IMO PS2 is an exception.

Cyborg Graphite. that's what i use to play all my games with. [via Xpadder, which is a super wee program for joystick to mouse stuff.] can't use a regular mouse. which hopefully explain my aim. =p
