    Hmmm... So you say you're always CPU bound whilst still running the GTX680? Super-sampling my friend. and turn off what is unnecessary (see below) 80% of the time with this .ini I am GPU bound at around 55-60 (I HAVE to have Vsync on or else I get super tearing from any framerate upwards of 85.) and when I am CPU bound (20% of the time usually urban areas i.e. inside buildings) I roll about 45-55fps due to the settings that I have optimized below.

    My CPU + GPU
    i5 3570k @3.4ghz
    Nvidia GTX 680 FTW edition (already overclocked to highest stable settings on purchase from EVGA)

    BOY DO I HAVE AN .INI FOR YOU!!!!

    FullscreenWidth=1920
    FullscreenHeight=1080
    WindowedWidth=1900

    Gamma=0.500000
    MaximumFPS=250
    UseLod0a=0
    VSync=1
    OverallQuality=-1
    LightingQuality=5
    FogShadowsEnable=0
    EffectsQuality=1

    I spent hours making this the perfect .ini for Planetside 2. You'll notice that most settings are low? that is because there is NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LOW/MEDIUM/HIGH/ULTRA!!!! THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS PROCESSING POWER!!!! idk what the f*ck sony did but most things in the settings look EXACTLY the same on low as they do on ultra. but ultra draws more processing power to filter shit like shadows, effects, terrain, etc. and it is 110% unnecessary.

    This .ini is the god among .inis.
    I have honestly lost count of the amount of people I have handed this out to. But I lost count somewhere around 12-14 or so.

    Heres the thing....I bought a mid-tower for a requested computer build I was asked to make for $15. I cant seem to find a full tower for less than $125....thats a kick in the money balls to me! Such an over priced item! In the past, my old HHD was overheating so I pulled the side off and put a box fan in its place. The HHD worked fine for another month before it died. After I buried my old HHD in the back yard in a shoe box, I dropped $120 on a SSD. My airflow is bad (IMO) I have 4 120MM fans, the fan for the OCz Z series 850W PSU, the Coolmaster Hyper 212 Plus CPU cooler, and the fan on the EVGA 4GB GTX680 all stuffed into a tiny DiabloTek evo Mid-tower. I have to remove 2 120MM fans to get the CPU power supply cable to its plug, then once its plugged in, I have to put the fans back in.

    I blindly trust my .ini to NIVDIA GeForce Experience. My thoughts are that they know more about this stuff then I do. However all my settings are on high. The game normally runs around 70FPS, to 180 in the warpgate (empty) to 50 in a large bio lab fight. With 70 FPS, I get beautiful game play without noticeable lag. When I bog down to 50 FPS, I wish I had the bare bones .ini going. When I first started playing PS2 in December of 2012, I wold get 20 FPS in an empty warpgate... so 70 is a gift from God to me.

    My setup is exactly the same but I have an AMD Thermaltake mid-size case. I dropped no more than $30 on the thing, and I never go up above 55C at 4.4 GHz.

    Maybe in a few days I will bump to 4.2, then a week later I will test out 4.4. I don't want to go too fast. I love her too much.

    Odd... My Q6600 overclocks just fine. I think I'm at 3.2ghz w/ it and haven't needed to touch it since. I have some nice air cooling on it.

    Definitely something you wanna be careful with.

    Try setting up Prime95 for 6 hour intervals (Times 4) and see the averages. Your CPU is cleared to go up to 65C by the manufacturer, and average users say up to about 75C is "Safe". I'd say you wanna hover around the 60C as a high, and idling at about 25 if you can pull it off. Mine idles between 15 and 20, while "Under stress" is 55. Theoretically I could push it a bit harder, but there would be minimal performance gain for the not-so-minimal temperature increase.

    Since my GTX560-Ti has a lot of fan power, cooling won't be the problem.
    The problem is I can't find any OC options in my BIOS so my mobo probably doesn't support it. I know of no other ways to OC except to hardwire my CPU to a different voltage (which I won't recommend to anyone for obvious reasons). Perhaps a veteran could teach me more one day, I'm open to suggestions.

    Yeah I used the flagship motherboard from intel at the time and it did a great job of overclocking the Q6600. The BadAxe2 or something.
