Why am I still playing this game? You already had to be phenomenally stupid to get farmed by vehicles, yet every single patch is another appeasement of terrible infantry players by making vehicles less relevant than they already are.

Great, now delete the idiotic homing rockets we have now from the game, or make them all use the mechanic of the TR launcher, and come up with another mechanic for that weapon to use.

A base getting farmed by vehicles happens whether you want it to or not. And it happens VERY OFTEN and you rarely have control over it. I actually welcome these new AV weapons. In my opinion, the more options infantry have for vehicles, the better.

The best fights I've ever had in Planetside 1 and 2 were infantry-based fights. No aircraft, no tanks. Just your classic first person shooter scenario with hundreds of people, where both teams were evenly matched in numbers and skill. Every time I'm in those fights, I *always* hear at least five teamspeak "This is fucking awesome" and then everyone talking about how those fights make this game great. Those kinds of fights you can't replicate that any other videogame. It's those unforgettable moments that keep me coming back for more. I welcome anything, whether it be more AV options or sunderer no-deploy zones, that would help creating that experience more often.

There are two occasions in this game when vehicles farm infantry, and those are when a bunch of infantry don't bother to pull a single anti vehicle or anti air weapon, and when they keep spawning at bases long after they've lost and are being spawn camped by a handful of tanks and airplanes. In both cases you have to be a colossal idiot, and unfortunately, a lot of people playing the game are in that group.

I do too, they are infinitely better designed than the idiotic homing weapons we have now which are completely shitting all over vehicles, and should completely replace all the non-default rocket launchers in the game.

Planetside 2's infantry combat is the least unique thing about the game. There are a plethora of games using almost identical or very similar fps mechanics. What makes, well, made, at this point, Planetside 2 different is that it is not just a few hundred infantry shooting at another group of a few hundred infantry, it's a few hundred infantry shooting at another group of a few hundred infantry, with massive tank columns on both sides, and a bunch of planes flying through the sky.

The infantry combat mechanics are not interesting enough to stand up on their own, and I am nothing short of bored to tears nowadays when I play infantry because instead of the cool massive fights with airplanes flying around and massive tank battles, all I'm really seeing is a bunch of infantry shooting at a bunch of other infantry, with a few tanks and planes scattered about barely being a threat to anything.

I'm going to use what just happened not even five minutes ago as an example. These two images were taken two seconds apart
    [IMG]

Here's the view from the top of the tower

Take a look at that progress bar and the amount of influence. The cap had barely started and this much shit had shown up. At least 20 pieces of armor completely steamrolled through Peris amp station and proceeded to hit us at Regent Rock, where we chose to fall back and defend. We had annihilators, bursters, mined roads, tanks of our own. We lasted maybe 3 minutes before the base was completely flooded with enemy armor and air. Every tank out there was anchored and shelling every possible entrance of the tower. Annhilators wont work because we can't step two feet outside of our own tower because the exits are under constant fire. Air won't work because they had several skyguards and bursters.

There's not much you could do immediately in this situation with only two squads worth of guys. Unless, of course, you have another solution that could counter something like this.

Tell me what to do so I can stop being a colossal idiot for allowing the enemy to pull 20+ tanks, half a dozen liberators, and several platoons worth of people from warpgate.

Your criticism is hardly constructive. Something more appreciated would have been to say something like start capturing territories around the zerg, causing them to split their numbers in two or more directions, which would create a much more manageable force that two squads worth of annihilators could handle at an individual base. But what do I know? I'm a colossal idiot.

That totally went over your head. The point is Annihilator spam is out of control and a squad with them is just a massive "I FUCKING WIN" button - as was proved in the video referenced. 500m for effective lock range is a bit ridiculous.

Now, regarding the mass of tanks showing up at your doorstep - unless you had an effective mass counter for it, I agree it was quite idiotic to respawn there and give them free kills.

That's the whole point - people respawn over and over at the same place without proper reinforcement that is obviously getting camped and capped out, and then run to the forums crying NERF ALL VEHICLE PEW PEWS because they died 20 times trying to save it by themselves as an Infiltrator against 3 libs and 5 ESF's hovering with 20 tanks below them surrounding the base...

This game is all about numbers. You can counter any zerg, if you have the numbers. That's the thing people don't realize, and they go off in battle - alone - and get lolfucked as soon as they try to do anything.

Bottom line is people need to learn to play and stop crying to SOE. I personally feel it is ruining vehicle play, from ALL sides.

You like infantry? Keep your ass planted in the Bio Lab (that's why they are COVERED).

Zergs being completely unstoppable is an entirely different issue, and even if those vehicles had not been there you would have been overrun by a massive swarm of infantry instead. It has nothing to do with vehicles being too good versus infantry, and everything to do with the fact you were hopelessly outnumbered.

Also, just so we are crystal clear on what farming is, just getting killed by vehicles is not being farmed by them, getting farmed by them is when you have no chance of doing anything yet you keep running out into them and feeding them kills.

Well considering I wasn't criticizing you, that's probably why. But if you want me to offer suggestions so be it. If it was me, I would have immediately told everyone to respawn at xroads (or any other suitable base depending on what we owned), pulled four galaxies from tawrich, and gone for peris if it was safe. I would have then mined the bridge between regent and peris, and hacked the turrets on that side of the base. Then depending on the result I would have stuck around if it was a battle we could fight and win. Otherwise I would have loaded up the galaxies again and flew off somewhere else.

I never made this specific to you, but if you are one of the people who doesn't know when to redeploy and keeps spawning at battles they can't win, feeding the enemy kills, then yeah you are.

This just in, a rare sighting has occured. Kowlefe has liked and agreed on a comment Phragg has made earlier today. This is truely a rare sighting as they have been butting heads more than all the rams in England!

Those side by side shots of your map dont say much. It is the same ammount of armor just balled up more. A simple fix to that is rather than pulling back like a little bitch, have everyone go HA and pull a dumb fire rocket and light them up. They will either bail out or resort to using air keeping the ground clear and thus keeping them from capturing the point.

Claiming yourself as a colossal idiot is foolish but if you want us to call you that, we will.
