In an effort to creat a dialogue in regards to the Galaxy being almost useless now I thought if the ceiling could be raised for the Galaxy only say to 1500 meters or even higher whereas the detection we not be so obviuos. Gal drops would bring an old aspect tot he game that was lost. Oh and why we are at it allow for a Sunderer to piggy back in the hold or bring back the AMS ability tot he Gal. Your thoughts?
The gal is a game changer for the speed of a battle. When used effectively, it has massive effect on a battle. It has by far the most hit points in the game and it has more weapons than any other craft. Add that to a top speed around 160 KPH and you get a very powerful weapon. The crutch of the gal is also what makes it amazing. Its people. To make the gal shine, you need good people. In my eye, the best part of Planetside 2 is the need for team based play. I also feel this is the hardest part of the game. Anyone can play COD style and go solo all the time, but how often do you find a real leader? How often do you find someone who can take a bunch of solo players and focus every ones energy into a single target? It rare. I love (LOVE!) the way NNG tends towards always building better leaders. Its leaders that make Gals shine. It takes a Leader to make the Gal a true weapon of horror to our enemy. Leaders are rare and so are Gals. Think about this. What if the pilot of the gal could shoot a weapon? Would gals be used more? Why is the Gal and the Sundy the only crafts that the driver can not shoot while driving? I think the makers of PS2 know how to keep the game fair. The Gal is OP already. It just takes special people to make it do what it 'do.
In beta when we could spawn from gals, they were dime a dozen. You could park them next to each other and spawn for days. If it came under fire, you would just move it. I remember parking one at allatum bio on the landing pad. Think about how much faster bases would fall if you could just park a spawn on top of it. What if we could put a sundy on top of the skydock? All those epic battles we have had would not have happened. I think they will have to be super careful if they want gals to hold other craft like sundys and tanks. It will change the game a lot. That being said, I want to practice putting sundys and mags on top of my gal if anyone wants to join me.
The amount of people needed to have success with a vehicle: Lightning: 1 MBT: 1-2 (you can wreak havoc solo, but a gunner doubles it) Flash: 1-2 (I've seen plenty of situations where the rumble seat was useless) Harasser: 1-3 (see Flash) ESF: 1 Liberator: 2-3 (third person is optional with the capabilities of a Lib)(unless you're named Phragg, he solo's) Galaxy: 5-6 In a Galaxy, to prevent from being shot down, you need all guns manned and preferably an AA ESF escort to deal with enemy ESFs. That needs a lot of teamwork. You can outmanouver MAXes (or just shoot them), you can't outmanouver ESFs. Libs are, in my opinion, only dangerous against Galaxies if the gunner has serieous Zephyr/Dalton skills.
IF nothing more than to have a real Gal Drop again, in PS1 it could only hold at its maximum a lightning if memory serves.
The Gal is my go to flight vehicle and I gladly fly it alone, park it, and bulldog till everyone dies by my hands.
