    Wish I could test atm, still getting 9 fps for no reason when i login

    I don't think it would matter much in heavier fights. You're bottlenecked by the CPU's ability to track the players in your vicinity. I think the thing you will definitely notice is that it's easier to see people because the geometry isn't blurred at a distance.

    which in itself might fall under "performance enhancing mods"

    He just said that increasing your performance is fair. What do you mean by your last statement?

    I remember this from closed beta only thing is, the materials_3.xml isent even in my soe folder.

    Decreasing performance usually requires removing or lowering the rendering of something in game. Should you remove something intended to make it harder to see (like smoke for example) I think you would be crossing that line.

    While not rendering smoke gives fps boost, it also.. doesn't render smoke lol. Just an example of course but I'm sure the line is crossable
