No one in this thread is telling you how to play the game. I don't know where you got that from.

If anything, I am encouraging you to go above and beyond the noobie bullshit that is shotguns in PS2.

You might find it fun to play with shotguns and get easy kills. But you know what's more fun? Killing shotty noobs with something other than a shotgun...in close quarters. This is something I think you are all capable of if you are a part of this outfit, and if you're not, then I will teach you. In CQC, it feels pretty satisfying than just watching shotty scrubs getting themselves killed trying to beeline your face with a (pump/automatic) shotgun.

I think we should stop calling each other no-skillers and whatever.

1- It's bullshit. We don't have bullshit around, we are NNG.
2- We all play the game the way we want it, although we try to do it in a way the entire outfit (and/or faction) benefits.

Every class is different and we all want it to play it our own way. To have fun, to be the best or to have fun during being the best.

If you can't accept that, read the spoiler and get over it. The only real noob is a player who refuses to listen to others and accept there are different methods for the same result.

Snipers have been called noobs, partly because they don't dare to come close to the battlefield.
Light Assaults have been called noobs, partly because they're flying one-shotters (if carrying shotgun) when they're close enough.
Heavy Assaults have been called noobs, partly because they have a bigger shield protecting them during 1 vs 1 fights.
Medics have been called noobs, partly because there is no longer the need to kill, just to ress.
MAXs have been called noobs, partly because they're a fucking walking tank who just walk in the middle of a battle and kill everything.

Also, everyone with a higher than average amount of playtime in a vehicle has the risk of being called a vehicle whore.

Every class I haven't mentioned, you're all noobs, partly because you have seen how OP the rest of the classes are and still refuse to use them.

OK my take on the shotty, they do have a purpose in the game besides pissing off Vonic.
I got my Auraxium on the Pump action (forgot the name) but once I did I switched over to my carbines and SMG's again to work on medals for those, the problem I found with that though was I lost my skills. What I mean is I was so used to insta-gibbing people with 1-2 shots with the shotgun I forgot how to fight with a Carbine and it ruined me for quite a while. There is no doubt there is a time and place for a shotgun to be used, but not all the time like some people like to use it (BL of NC for starters).
Its a good topic to talk about but bad form calling others within NNG no skillers because they use it.
Lets get this topic back on its proper track or Ill request Ghost lock it up

Personally I have not bought a Shotgun ... yet. I will eventually.

I have racked up so REALLY nice 30+ kill streaks using the UBGL. It is a one hit kill. Some would call it a "noobtube" (It is anything but considering the arch and the min range but I digress). They chose to completely ignore the skill of getting into a position as an Engi were I can remain undetected long enough to get that many kills. They only want to compare the skills they are better at than I am while ignore areas I may be better than them.

I suck at CQC. Thus I tend to play a support player or camp. I play to my strengths. Everyone should play to their strengths. I am amazed at some of the skills other people have, about how much better they are than me.

However If anyone thinks the outfit looks bad if someone is using a shotgun then why doesn't that apply to any other OP weapon. C4 for instance. how is using C4 to get cheap fast kills over and over not also a cheap tactic that makes you look like a scrub? or a prox mine? or a tank to camp a spawn room? or a ZOE max (pre-nerf to uselessness)? or 20 burster maxs at skydock?

My point is, if it is effective for you then use it. Don't worry about what someone else does or does not use. If they are not teamkilling, hacking, exploiting, or being a buzzcut then they are not making the outfit look bad.

My two cents on shotguns are that they are easy to pick up and easy to use in CQC but they are very limited, the skill ceiling is quite low. This severely limits a person who gets used to shotgunning, you get so used to the small number of cases that it's applicable when you do something else you forget how to.
Such pick up and instant kill weapons are the bane of CQC fighters who do not use them, right up there with douche bag mines.
On the flip side rifles etc. can be used in more situations that a shotgun but have a much higher skill ceiling. This is because every other weapon differs in efficacy depending on the fight, a shotgun is only CQC, an SMG is CQC to mid, requiring skill to do both. An LMG can do all, but requires a lot more skill. I suppose the adage over specialization breeds weakness applies. Also, the skills learned when using a shotgun do not carry over to other play styles as well as rifles do.

Also, props for this thread, it's actually being constructive and not going into bitchy whining or insults.
I understand Vonic's frustration at shotguns, in CQC (Vonic's playground) they're the equivalent of running a truck into said playground.
That being said, they don't annoy me as much as m herf ing douchbag mines.

A great time for the shotgun is as an Engineer, repairing generators. I place a bouncing betty mine just outside the doors as a doorway alarm, begin repairing - when I hear the mine go off (either shot or set-off by the enemy infantry), I switch to the shotgun and as long as there are not too many enemy, I can successfully finish repairing the generator.

We've had it before and it works well. Hard to find good leaders who play. Myself I take the backseat most of the time becuase I have little time to play.

Thats okay, I still recruit for us on the forums and in-game. I know it's shallow me from the past, hopefully one day I will have as much time as i did in the past, I really enjoy leading and alliances with other outfits.

Dalton vs ESF is in same category. Jussayin.

Shotty is balanced due to its range. Anything over X meters and it's useless. Sniper, same deal. Anything under X meters, unless you're super awesome, is useless.

Bring the right tools to the right job and you can build a mansion. Bring the wrong tools to the job and you might be able to build a doghouse, provided the wind is blowing in the right direction.
