Its Tax Season and that means... REFUNDS. I've heard a lot of chatter about upgrading PC's with tax refund money and I have to make a suggestion

    http://www.geforce.com/landing-page/free-2-play

Nvidia has begun capitalizing off of F2P titles such as planeside 2 and is including special codes in their new products offering up to 50$ of in-game items (for just ps2) such as infantry camo, vehicle camo, weapon camo, exclusive weapons etc.
The deal is in simple terms, Buy an Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 or better and you will get a plethora of goodies.

I don't know about you but my desktop is running on a GeForce GTX 550 ti and is in desperate need of an upgrade... i already planned on getting the New GTX 690 but this... is a sweet addition.

I recommend posting the specs of your current PC here and tell whether your PC is CPU or GPU bound on the game.
Planetside 2 is more CPU intensive than you might think, and buying a card specially for PS2 while it isn't doing you any good would be a shame.

I've got a GTX 560 Ti running here and the graphics are perfect. The only reason why I'm capped at 15-20 FPS at biolab fights is because my CPU can't handle it.

I really hate commenting on posts such as these, because often they become e-peen stroking contests, but I trust you guys enough that I doubt this will be the case.
So here's what I am running and my frames in regular and biolab stuff.
    I5-2400 running at stock 3.1ghz
    4gigs ram
    gts 450

Running the game at medium, running it at high produced ALMOST the exact same results (I have slight vision problems so running at high made it too hard to see stuff what with bloom effects and all).
    Regular play 50-60 fps
    Biolab 30-35fps
Not the greatest, I know, but still playable. More importantly though when I hear people complaining about dropping to a few fps or game becoming a slide show, I just don't experience any of that. The fps is really pretty constant for me (well except for that day or so after GU2).
So my point is that if you are having frame rate problems, instead of blaming your hardware you should look at how you have your computer setup.
I know that many of you are far more tech savvy than myself and know just fine how to keep your system clean and running well and have already looked at that and deduced that your hardware is the problem, and to those; fine, upgrade away if you think it will help.
Please understand I am not tryig to talk down to anyone or offend anyone in any way. I also understrand that 30-35 in a biolab while fine for me may not be good enough for some.
    :)
