Would anyone be interested in doing some "Events" from time to time?

From browsing r/battlefield3 and checking out youtube videos I've seen a lot of people doing "alternative" game modes in BF3 that might be fun to try sometime. Zombie mode pits two evenly numbered teams against each other, but one team can only use their knives. When a player on the other team is knifed, they then switch teams and become a zombie. Last man alive wins along with the zombie with the highest number of kills.

A similar mode involves one team of 4 - 6 vs a much larger force, though the large force is unable to use heavy vehicles, unlocks, perks, or any kind of communication. The smaller force must either hold a point, or move from one point to another. Think of it as a brains vs brawn/ Black Hawk Down style game.

Doing any of these as public "events" would require a good deal of involvement from all of us. We would need to "advertise" so to speak; post in forums, on Reddit, etc. Someone would have to admin the whole thing, we'd have to go unranked for the night, turn off true balance, temporarily change the server name and !rules entries. It would definitely be a lot of work, but could also be a ton of fun and generate a lot of interest in NNG.

Does this idea interest anyone?

This is too weird to log in and find this thread. Not 15 minutes ago I was thinking it would be cool to have a "king of the hill" mode where there's only one flag in play and the two teams have to fight to keep it. No air, no vehicles. The ticket counter automatically keeps score.

This would also necessarily make each side work as a team at both assaulting the point and then defending the point.

I think the hilltop on Caspian would be perfect. High ground but accessible from all sides. Maybe the construction site "D" on Kharg, "B" on firestorm, or "C" (the tunnel) on Darmavand.

 

I think it sounds like a good time. Count me in as long as it doesn't interfere with my kids baseball team, weekends would be better for me.

I like the piece about getting some PR going via Reddit, etc. This community is overdue for some much needed publicity. We have a solid foundation to work from.

Let try to do something Sunday evening. We can have Sunday Funday, and then wrap it up with a two or three maps of special games.

So far we have a pretty simple Zombie game, A squad vs army game, and a king of the hill game. Does anyone else have any ideas to add?

If these work out. I'd love to try an Advance and Secure type mode using the new !yell messages. It would be normal game play all around, but flags would have to be taken in a certain order. When one flag is taken, we !yell to the attacking team the next flag to take, and !yell to the defending team which flag to Defend. Could be really great on Karkand.
