[Movement, Aim and Hardware Settings] - Tips to become a better player

    I wanna share with you guy's some tips and videos that I found and can help you become a better player.
    The mechanics of weapons and infantry movement of Planetside 2 are very similar to Battlefield 3, so I will be using BF3 videos as references.

    If you have more info/videos to add or something to correct, don't be shy and post a reply!

    --------------------------

    Let's first talk about how to set your hardware and in-game settings so you can take the best of your equipment.

    Mouse configuration

    Even if you don't own a high-end mouse, there are some settings that can help you to become more precise.

    Removing mouse acceleration - Windows have a setting that increases the speed of your mouse cursor based on the speed you move your mouse. This is bad because you can't consistely travel between 2 points doing the same distance with your mouse. Removing this will make you become more precise and accurate.

    Check the link bellow to learn how to remove mouse acceleration.
    http://donewmouseaccel.blogspot.com.br/2010/03/markc-windows-7-mouse-acceleration-fix.html

    Config. your mid to high-end mouse - If your mouse have their own app for settings, you need to pay attention in things like DPI and polling rate. You can also set your mouse buttons to do determined actions, like switch guns and thrown granades.

    Here are some videos that will help with this part:

    [embed=298,244] [embed=298,244]

    In-game settings - Let's change your mouse sensibility. This is personal choice, but I like to set so I can make a a 360ยบ with aprox. 4,5 inches(11,5cm) of mouse movement. The important thing is to set so you can feel comfortable with cqc and longe range engagements.

    Check this boxes in the settings menu:
    - Use Raw Mouse Input - (mouse acceleration related)
    - Reduce Imput Lag - (the time that takes to you hit a key and your pc processing that info)

    (This is not mouse related and are personal choice, but I also like to check "Centralized HUD Mode" and uncheck "Fixed Minimap")

    Optimization and Performance

    Competitive players will always choose performance over graphics. Having a low fps will drastically reduce how you perform on the field.

    There are some settings you can change in order to gain some fps in game. Reducing your graphics quality in-game is one, but if that doesn't help or you still wanna a pretty looking game, here are some further changes you can make:

    First thing you will need to know is that your performance will be determined more from your CPU than your GPU. So there are some game and UserOptions.ini settings that will aliviate the load of your CPU.

    Decreasing things like shadows/flora/audio quality, render distance, particles, etc... can increase you fps in 40% or more.

    Here is two nice topics that explain how to make this changes:

    NVIDIA release a official PlanetSide 2 Tweak Guide:
    http://www.geforce.com/optimize/guides/planetside-2-tweak-guide#1

    Enough with the boring stuff, let's go to the real deal.

    From now on I will talkin' about how to kill fast and maximize your damage. In this videos you will see things like recoil, connering, picking, cover, pre-firing, burst and tap-firing. All that will make you become a better player.

    Map awareness and audio cue

    Map awareness is essencial and can determined your victory in most battles. Always check your minimap to see where friendlies and enemies are. By doing this you can predict enemy movement and decide where to advance or assist.
    Also, if you see a enemy, even far away, press Q and spot them. This will help you and your allies.

    The audio in PS2 is pretty good, so keep your ears sharp for audio cues! Each faction have different sounds for characters voices, vehicles and infiltrators cloaking.
    If your hear something that it's not a TR sound(spot, cloaking, etc...), pay attention and go check it out. Listen for steps behind you, and if there is no blue spots on the minimap, turn around and be prepared.

    Since we are talking about audio, set a whisper with your buddy pair and communicate as best as you can. If you died, make sure your buddy knows where the enemy are coming from. But don't spam information, keep comms succinct and clear.

    Recoil, accuracy and more

    One of the most important things is to learn how to operate your weapon. That's include controling recoil, know when hipfire, burstfire and tapfire.

    [embed=298,244]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXDGcmC8DUQ[/embed] [embed=298,244]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuFu7eJL0wc[/embed]

    Recoil -is the backward momentum of a gun when it is discharged. If you ADS, and shoot your weapon on a wall, you will se a padron forming, most weapons go straigh up, other

    go up and left(or right). Learning the recoil padron of your weapon will allow you to counter that, by simple pulling your mouse in the oposite direction. For example, if the recoil goes up/right, your mouse should go down/left.

    Some videos showing how to control the recoil:

    [embed=298,244]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WBBwXh0YVM[/embed] [embed=298,244]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o85PlEDdbi0[/embed] [embed=298,244]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCbZ-Sr55kw[/embed]

    Aim and target acquisition - There's some technics to improve your aim.

    A nice way he uses to improve his aim. Outside of the VR area have some stairs wih some kind of poles. You can take some distance and try to hit all the poles doing some padrons like, zig-zag, x, etc...

    Example:

    [IMG]

    Hit in the sequence: 1 - 6 - 3 - 4 - 2 - 5

    When you gain confidence, take more distance from the stairs and repeat.

    And here is two videos showing other technics to improve aim:

    [embed=298,244]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeL69FqXE04[/embed] [embed=298,244]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99kaFuBtguQ[/embed] [embed=298,244]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72G54d4kk0g[/embed]

    Hipfire, burstfire and tapfire - This are all technics correlated to distance and what weapon you are using.

    You should hipfire when in close range, where the time to ADS might kill you. Some weapons like the new SMG are hipfire masters. You will never need to ADS with this weapon.

    In most situations you should burstfire(6-10 bullets), and always controling the recoil. If you shoot more bullets, the spread will make you miss your target, so that's why you stop shooting and initiate a new burst.

    Tapfire is for longe range situations, and its bursts with 2 to 4 bullets. The longer the distance, more bullet deviation you gonna have.

    Crosshair adjustment - Most people have the bad habit that, when running, aim the crosshair down, if you do that, you should stop.
    Keep your crosshair up at a head lvl, so that way you will be ready when and enemy appears.

    Weapon data - This is the best way to decide what weapon to use.

    In this site you will have the actual data about all the variables of each weapon in the game. You will se things like bullet damage and spread, recoil padrons, rounds per minute, etc...

    Cornering, Peeking, Cover and Prefiring

    This will immediately increase your performance and your survivability. We already saw a small portions of this on the past training (BTI's and RIP's). Here I compiled the best ways to approach an objetive with inteligent movement and placement.

    This is the most important part of this topic, so I will let the videos do the job:
