Yeah, pirates will use blueprints you have saved, unless you disable it in the options. Personally, I find the starting pirate ship to be a bit too easy to deal with after you get a really big ship, so I let them use my smaller designs.

Something I just noticed. If you're getting insane fps (I'm getting over 300), in the launcher go to setting and enable "show advanced settings". That'll let you bump up the graphics settings.

Yeah, I turned everything all the way up, which dropped me to 'only' 100ish fps. Not that anything over 60 matters for me personally, or 120 for anyone. I don't think they make monitors of more than 120Hz, so anything above that is just buffer.
I don't see any difference, but meh. As I say, there's not any reason not to.

One thing the massive fps does mean is pretty good optimization, so that's something at least.

Only thing I hadn't turned all the way up was anti-aliasing, which I proceeded to turn up

Is there somewhere for me to store my ships? I'd like to build another one or two while keeping my current ship. I don't want to have it in space for me to get back to it.

Also what's the easiest way to re enter the ship if you jumped? A line of plexi door blocks to the core? I haven't found many ways to get back in apart from removing blocks until I reach the core and add them back in after. And as my ship gets bigger and more complex that becomes harder and harder to do.

Also I remapped the jump ship button as I would hit "r" too easily while hitting "e" in flight. But for some reason when I left my ship once it would let me exit with the remapped button but not back in. I had to use the old button even though the prompt was for the new one. I removed a ton of blocks including system blocks because I thought I wasn't able to physically reach it or something as I kept hitting the button it was telling me to press.

Store your ships at your base. Make a faction by opening up the menu (press B,or I) click the faction tab at the bottom and create a faction. Then collect as many docking enhancer blocks as you can find. purchase a faction block, a ship docking block and build blocks (or 2) from a store. Find a place where you want to make your base. Find a planet or star base. Exit your ship, place the faction block on the target, look at the block and push R. It should give you some options such as setting this location as your faction home. Place the build block and then enter it by pressing R. Build a docking platform to hold the 1st ship. Build more docks for more ships. Try to remember the location of your ships so you can return. Also you can place a respawn block at your base so if you die you can respawn there.

Next: So you pushed R and fell out of your ship? Make sure there is enough room around your core for you to exit. About 4 blocks all around should do. Next you need to find the ships spawn point. Its that point where you start outside the ship when you 1st start the game. Make a 4 block wide path to your core from that location. make as many doors in your ship as you need. I use a scooter ship to get around. I use a core block, a power block and an engine block as a quick means of getting around out of my ship. It docks next to my main entrance to my ship.

If your having a problem with button mapping, patch your client, and try to remap the keys is all I can think to do.

I got a faction block from a pirate and some of those materials so I just need to buy a few more.
Can pirates attack a space base if you set it up in singleplayer?
Can I "claim" one of the empty bases floating around?

I pushed my new button to leave the ship, I was in a cockpit. And I couldn't re-enter the core with the new button, had to use "r".
My ships aren't big enough at the moment for space inside. They are all joined blocks so I have to remove armour to re-enter the core.
