Guys I will be away for a while. Heres what happened:

3 days ago my wife went to the store to get groceries. On the way she stopped for gas, but after filling up, her truck would not start. She called me, I gave the kids to our neighbor and set off to jump start her car. When I got there, I used jumper cables to start the truck, but it would not. In a last ditch effort, I moved the battery from my Subaru to her Ford and tried again to start it. No dice. I pushed the car into a parking lot and left it overnight. I reinstalled the battery back into my car and the check engine light came on. The car was not idling correctly (too low). The next day, I took my wifes battery from her truck to be tested. The local auto parts store said they would be happy to charge the battery but I felt that because the battery was so old (more than 3 years) it was best to get a new one. I paid $120 for a cheaper battery (we plan to sell it soon), installed the new battery, loaded up the kids and wife, drove back to the truck, then drove home. Once home, we found the clock and radio did not work on the truck. I looked up the fuses in the owners manual and found the blown fuse. I drove back to the auto parts store and bought 2 packs of fuses (1 for each car). I installed the new fuse and the truck seemed fine again.

The next morning my wife drives to work and the truck dies at a red light. I load up the kids and race off to save her. She has to be at work asap. I get to the light and jump my car up the curb, park it and begin to push the truck about 400 feet to a parking lot. I ran back to my car, backed it off the curb, scraped the bottom of my car on the way down, and drove to pick up my wife. Dropped my wife off at work and then drove home again. I began my research into my check engine light. When I bought the battery for my wifes truck, I had the guy do a OBD2 check to see what the car was telling me. I got idle air control system problem. I looked this up on the internet and found likely problems. I opened my hood looking for the problems, and noticed a new problem. When I jumped up on that curb today, I blew the front passenger side outside CV boot. Grease was everywhere and smoking on my hot catalytic converter guard plate.
Now I am looking for a alternator to replace the old one in my wifes truck.
I suspect a faulty positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve on my Subaru. I plan on cleaning it or replacing it.
I am debating on weather to fix the CV boot or not. Axles are cheep so I might just replace the whole thing later when the joint wears down enough to justify a new axle.

So this is why you have not seen me online much for the past few days and you may not see me much for the next few days.

Proof that crappy things happen to nice people. I hope you find what you need, at a decent price and have an easy time dealing with the situation. We will all await your return to full fledged gaming when life permits :)

Damn Sarge, I feel your pain, between mine and my wifes truck I've put about $2000 into both of them for repairs.
Good luck on getting them fixed and cheaply

boot kits range from 130 -140 per boot, the whole rack can run from 1400 to 1800. Fix the boot if all you did is tear it. AS for the PCv valve is it on the top of your valve cover ( external?) if so some berrymans chemtool will do the trick. It should rattle like a kids toy with clean. It has a plastic valve body inside the base of the elbow joint. IF IT IS EXTERNAL! Internal will be more complicated and above my paygrade :)

Holy christ man. Notice how in life, all the shitstorming happens at once? Life is calm, calm, calm, then all of a sudden, BHAM! Tsunami wave washes your entire neighborhood away.

Good luck with getting everything in working order again!
