I think we need to have a system in place for how we use land that will balance:

    1) What should go toward guild projects (boats, guild halls, etc)
    2) What will help people level their professions, complete quests, etc
    3) What should we be using the stuff in the guild chests for

We do and we will have this all in writing hopefully by the beginning of next week. We know it's late, but we're working out scheduling for meetings between the officers so we can buff out some concrete guidelines, suggestions, and thoughts. We plan to have our first meeting this weekend at an, as of now, undecided time. and we'll be knocking out all this stuff at our first meeting, hopefully this weekend.

Yep, what phaedo said. But you raise a good point and I'm glad you are thinking about this Xaos!

I know there have been a couple of mentalities to this. And I'll be blunt about it.
    1) some people don't want to get involved therefore don't put anything in, and don't take anything out. (fine, np w/ that)
    2) some will put their excess (valuable or not) in the guild bank to help contribute and don't take anything out.
    3) some will put their excess (valuable or not) in the guild bank and will take out other things
    4) some will put specific things in the guild bank (following their role/class) (great team players but I think are the ones always saying they are broke)
    4) some will just take.

There has to be a balance between "For the Guild" and "Personal IPM" so that the game (remember it's just a game) is fun for all and fun for the individual BOTH at the same time.

That being said there are countless styles of play so everyone can't tribute the same way to the guild. What I do like to hear/see is when someone in chat says "hey who needs this item" or "hey does anyone have any extra ____" or "I have labor to burn, who needs help" These are all great and VERY helpful making this game which is impossible to play solo very enjoyable.

There should be a "special projects" chest for the guild that has limited access. The officers should make a FAMILY and only have access to that. If that hasn't been done I'm really not sure why. This would obviously ensure correct inventory for items needed for ships, carts, houses, etc.

Smaller groups in the guild that work closely together often should also make a FAMILY so that they benefit together and progress faster as well.

Balance is key to this game so that it's enjoyable for all.

Just so everyone is aware, the officers do have a family chest in the Thatched Farmhouse where we keep the following stacks:

Stone Trade Packs (100 Stone Brick)
    Lumber Trade Packs (100 Lumber)
Iron Trade Packs (100 Iron Ingots)
    Fabric Trade Packs (100 Fabric)

and when we decided to do a guild run of X trade packs we move over the ingredients necessary once we have them. Example:

We're doing a guild run soon. We want to take a bunch of Solzreed Dried Food.

Everytime we get 50 trimmed meat AND 35 grapes in the guild chest, the 50 meat and 35 grapes are moved into the officer chest and we record it. We now have 1 Solzreed Dried Food TP. etc. etc.

If you want to have the guild help you construct something, as long as we have an abundance of materials, we don't mind helping. But in-order to be abundant in materials, people need to put things in the appropriate chests, and people need to not take things in mass quantities from the guild chest.

The Guild chest IS NOT YOUR PERSONAL, EXPANDED STORAGE!!!!!!! It should not be something that you dump all of your stuff into and then take what you wish, whenever you wish it.

Now you can take some things out, that's fine. But just like @DaPoets said, there needs to be a balance between Guild and Personal. And in-order to accomplish that balance everyone needs to do the following:

    • Understand that what is put in the guild chest is for the guild. It IS NOT your personal extended storage.
    • If you want to run trade packs, unless it is a guild sanctioned trade run DO NOT take the materials you need from the guild bank. Grow or purchase your own materials through either A. Public Farms or B. The public guild farm*.
    • IF you must take materials from the guild chest for a trade run, run it past an Officer/Lieutenant and let them know that you are taking X amount of materials for an X payout, and then the Officers/Lieutenants will give you a "Guild Cut Price".
    • If you are using guild materials for trade runs, the guild gets a cut of the profits, i.e. "Guild Cut Price" or, GCP.
    • Keep your personal materials to yourself, you do not have to give everything you get to the guild. Clarification:

    • What ever you harvest/collect from guild property belongs to the guild. Put it in the guild chests.

    • What ever you collect/harvest from illegal farms, public farms, or the guild public farm* you are allowed to do with as you wish.

This game is very very very reliant on community efforts. And hording/compiling our resources is the best way to accomplish this. If people start abusing, or taking, from the community for their own self interests, we will have to take some kind of preventive measures. Because at that point it is stealing from everyone, and we really don't want to have to lock the chest.

*The Guild Public Farm (GPF) is a work in progress, quick version is that there will be a designated 16x16 farm among the guild lands that is open for public use. It will operate just like a public farm, however in order to use it you must sign up for it. Each person is maxed out at 5 total anythings on the farm. Animals, Plants, Vegetables, etc.

Like I said the GPF is a work in progress, but it will be finished by Saturday evening, so expect to see a write up about it.

As far as the purchase of seeds/saplings for planting on guild land goes, how will that be handled?

Also, for those of us landowners, are the gardens up there considered ours, guilds, or some combination?

The purchase of seeds/saplings, hasn't been fully fleshed out yet, however we're looking at possibly asking for optional donations from all members which we can then keep in a chest for the people who need to plant stuff so as the guild will pay for it.

Landowners. If you have land set up in Karkasse Ridgelands, such as gardens/farms, then that land belongs to the guild. We require a lot of land and we have to keep it busy to stay competitive in the world market.

However, If you own land elsewhere, you can do with it as you wish. Open it to guild, or keep it private.

Note: if the Guild Public Farm idea goes through, then there will be a 16x16 plot of land in Karkasse Ridgelands that is a combination of both. It is guild land, but those who sign up for it get to use part of it for whatever they wish for X amount of time. And this will be enforced. Farmers/loggers/gatherers/husbanders are not allowed to touch that farm, and if we learn that they are, then actions will be taken.

Second Note: The Guild Public Farm idea is still being discussed and nothing about it is final yet.
