Took us 47 tries to get through the first section of a heist, but we eventually got it! Had a blast!

Funnily enough, we kept dying but didn't die once on the time we passed. When will we meet up to finish the heist or do the next bit?

I know go figure. I think we all decided, let's just bum rush the fuckers and see what happens. It works... lol.

I won't be around until Saturday to play, (most likely), so by all means don't wait up for me for the next heist. I want to start getting into some of the more sophisticated heists too though. The ones where the payouts are in the millions. Make sure to not break the flow of the heists as you go through them, because you get a huge payout if you follow the story/flow of the heist model. Good shit!

How does the heist replay work after you complete it? Does it just spawn via your phone like all other missions? Or do you just call the person who gives the mission until they give it to you?

Runs pretty well, there are a few issues here and there. They have only released 2 or 3 patches so far, but considering the wide range of PCs it can run on it is doing fairly well and I imagine a total solution may take a little while.

By all means it is playable now and one of the better AAA releases on PC of recent years. Heists are fun but the missions fail if someone drops a connection and you have to have the required amount of players to launch it or any of the setup missions before it (you get some money and RP, which are their xp points, for them too). The heists and setups missions can be quite fun and do have a bit of a story to them and are a nice addition on top of the missions already in game. But heists do take quite a bit of planning, someone may be unavailable once you finally get 4 people because they got tired of waiting. But running missions or running around in free roam is quite fun.

I would suggest going to invite or friends/crew only free roam sessions to avoid the random pugs you run into in regular online. A lot of people will just kill on sight in open online. It is better now that the rep/mental state system is working. People who just kill players and excessively kills NPCs (by GTA standard so a few kills are fine) are marked as red or a shade of red between the dark red of excess killers and the white of regular players. The game has been out long enough now that you can see player with a tinge of red approaching you. Day one was a nightmare as everyone was new so they were all marked as innocent white so player killers could sneak up on people easier.
The missions are fun and varied. And once you host a mission, you can then replay it through the pause menu, so rather than waiting for good missions to randomly spawn, you can immediately start a lobby and invite friends.

Gunplay is good, the car driving is good (there are a lot of factors behind the scenes to their performance if you are interested in it) and the first person mode is really well done and immersive. I enjoy it, but I am using third person for my earlier levels, as getting side swiped by someone or a NPC while trying to complete missions for much needed money and xp gets annoying.

That's my fair opinion, trying to point out what issues there are now. Tweaking game settings (which are expansive) and increasing your page file (the copy of your ram stored on your hard disc in all windows systems) size to 12gb, can really improve performance and loading times (which are much better than the consoles).

Would I recommend it.... yes, totally! For all the little things, it is a great game and it is not game breaking. Just relax and have fun, and things won't get to you. I would recommend shopping around for your best price as I have heard people get legit game keys for really good prices. And then that's another bonus. But it's still a good retail game, I'm just a poor college student :P

Gonna do a quick breakdown post of car mods to cover what works well and try to debunk some myths. Hopefully this will aid anyone unsure of what mods to get and what they do.

    1) cars continue to be upgraded even if the bars are full in the stats screen at the mod shop. So full rank in engine, transmission, turbo, etc. will continue to improve performance further. Don't forget that brakes are important too, one of the best ways to make you drive faster in real life is to improve how fast you can slow down. Turbo is the single biggest improvement you can make.

    2) All wheel types are the same on regular tarmac (road). However, off road wheels have the best traction on non-road surfaces, eg. curbs, grass, sand ,dirt, etc. So if you clip a curb or drive over one at speed you will have traction virtually as good as on road. This should help stop your vehicle from going into a spin or getting unbalanced when changing terrains. Off road wheels start at $5000.

    3) Bulletproof tires will not pop in burnouts or be fully shot out. They preform as well as regular tires so have no downsides. Get them once you unlock them by levelling up. Bulletproofs are $25000

    4) Custom tires have higher traction than stock tires and can be stacked with the two previous mods. This will improve handling further.

    5) Armour upgrades increase car weight and will slow it down, but only very slightly. Something like 5% for max armour. So it is a good trade off. In one youtuber series, they actually did a quicker lap after adding armour to a car, but the difference was so slight that it could be down to the driver just doing better race lines.

    6) Carbon fiber body parts reduce vehicle weight and improve performance. Top speed, acceleration, braking and handling all depend on weight so benefit from slight upgrades. It is a small difference but a noticeable one, more of a difference than the armour decrease anyway.

    7) Suspension does lower your centre of gravity of the car (one of the behind the scenes stats that affects overall performance). This has positives and negatives, for tall vehicles with a lot of ground clearance it will give them more traction as they are less top heavy. For low cars, it will improve stability and handling slightly but you also may tip your bumper off curbs and other bumps more. This may make high speed spins more likely at the cost of greater stability when you are not pushed off balance. There are 4 levels, so you can find out what is the sweet spot for you. Although a lot of people find it to have no benefit or a hindrance with less ground clearance. This will benefit people pushing their car to the max and avoiding collisions or excessive driving over uneven terrain.

    8) Spoilers work in game, they give more traction and improve handling.

    9) Roll cages improve the cars ability to take impacts. Taking some inspiration from real life, the roll cage spreads the shock and reduces the force at the point of impact so less damage is taken. Good for taking an unexpected, or expected, long roll or jump from a high place in a car. Unfortunately, I have found no evidence to show that roll cages can improve handling somewhat like they can in real life (the more rigid body doesn't flex as much in turns so it can maintain traction better).

So to summarise, the best handling improvements you can make are spoilers, off road, custom tires, carbon fiber and suspension. With suspension being the least effective mod for most cars. But trucks, jeeps, sedans, etc. get more improvement due to their high stock centre of gravity.

Now, why do you want all these mods? You don't plan on racing so why improve performance? A car is a car. Well, with these mods, you will get to mission objectives quicker, you will spin out less as you will be put off balance less. And you will take corners better. All this allows you to get from A to B faster and to evade cops or NPCs trying to catch you and shoot you.

Note 1: Your driving skill will improve vehicle handling and you will "shake" less while driving once it is maxed out. But driver skill only does so much.

Note 2: To get race wins, you just need to race at least one other player. The standard race to grind wins with a friend is the one by the prison, but you can make your own race which is ever faster. Minimum race length is 0.63 miles. This can be done by a creating a simple point to point race on a straight stretch of road and turning off traffic in the settings. This is pretty easy with the rockstar editor. I made a drag race that took about 25 secs to run.
