[Jun 20, 2014] SEEERRRVVVEEERRRRR SMASH! Mattherson vs Waterson (PTS)

I'm thinking of going out to dinner but I'll be back before 8. If I'm needed somewhere, poke me, I'll be watching the stream otherwise.

GG NNG. Hard fought, and well deserved even with several... "newer" outfits dragging a lot of ass. On top of that against QRY leading their air platoon and hammering everyone the entirety of the match. 6 outfits that HAVE NOT played in serversmash or anything competitive before were being fielded by mattherson. 6! Our best air outfit played for waterson who completely ignored the 1 squad per outfit rule... AND WE STILL WON. I find it pretty hilarious myself, though frustrated endlessly during the match. I kept staring at Ymir hoping they would do something... anything, while getting my face mashed by lockdown prowlers and 5-6 libs every two, two and a half minutes or so.

Personally I never really cared about the final name, I just wanted to beat Waterson for bragging rights hehe. I'm glad NNG was there with us because I think if we had fielded even one less competent squad that would have been a loss. Yet, BCP still has to eat his words

Of all the server smashes to bring rookie outfits on board, this was not the one. I do not care what the conversations were like behind closed doors... it was a mistake. Against Connery... no big deal.

Either way, I know the rest of us kicked a lot of ass despite feeling the pain of some air superiority that was used properly against us. I wish it hadn't been this close, but at the end of the day we still pulled out the W.

I bench warmed, and got to come in like the last 20 or whatever minutes it was. During the final few minutes leading up to OT I pulled an AP lightning and wrecked several tanks, harassers, sunderers and I even got a few shots off on some libs and galaxies. I'd definitely say our little AP dueling practice paid off because I almost never pull an AP lightning on live.

I remember being in the WG on Indar and there were people from Waterson there hanging out and talking. The whole thing about Waterson having 5% overpop was mentioned and they said something along the lines of "that's ONLY 10-12 people" I was like yea you realize that's an entire squad worth of people, that makes a HUGE difference.

Also I think (I heard) GOKU played on Waterson, too. Not sure what that did, but still funny to see people from Mattherson going over to Waterson to help them out.

 

I just spammed res grenades like crazy and went hipfire hero with the HV-45. It was very effective lol
I swear at least 50% of our infantry was playing medic.

 

I really like the eridani for strictly hipfire play. I go with HV45 now if I think I'm going to have to do some mid range combat with ADS. The eridani actually isn't just too awful at close-mid but the HV45 fills that role a little better. At least for me.
