Icarus Groups is giving away an Idris-M with LTI, among a few other ships. The entry for the giveaway is super easy, and does not require any personal information. Just post a reply on the thread started in the link I posted above.

The contest just started TODAY, and runs through May 10th.

 

everyone that wants to be involved with SC should have posted into this even if you wont play all that much you can gift the idris to the organization

I'm hoping everyone who is able did so but I want to bump this, because I really would hate for anyone to miss out on a chance at a free Idris-M. The more people we have, the more likely of a chance that NNG gets one of these =D

Another thing I want to mention to those who are potentially going to register for this giveaway or already have, CIG made some official changes to the way gifting works to put a damper on all the scamming going on in the Grey Market surrounding this game. As to my understanding, the giveaways will now all be equivalent Star Citizen gift card cash prizes. So instead of the Idris-M you will receive a $1,000 gift card.

This is highly unfortunate, as I know I personally would rather have the Idris-M. The "M" stands for Military and this variant is not available to the general public, but to those very early backers. I'm not even sure that you can get one of these once the game starts, though you may be able to outfit an Idris to be similar to an Idris-M.

However, with $1,000 gift card you can buy a whole fleet of ships. If you own a couple ships already you could even melt them down and combine them with the $1,000 and buy a Battle Pack multi ship package if you truly want to. The cheapest multi ship pack to include an Idris is $5,000 though, and it's only an Idris-P.

To me personally, with all things considered, the Fleet Pack is the only multi ship packages "nearly" worth its value. Honestly though the only kicker with it is it includes LTI, a super hornet and an Origin 350r Racer which you can no longer just go out and get unless you buy a multi ship package.

I did some rough number crunching and you can buy (nearly) the same ships included in the Fleet Pack for around $1,400, and end up with about 26,000 more UEC than what the Fleet Pack comes with.

TL;DR It sucks they can no longer give away the Idris-M as a prize but with $1,000 you can still make out pretty good
