really good read if you like ps2. He mentions they are toying with the idea of being able to transfer your PC character to the console version. That would be a must for me personally.

My question is will this game also be available on the Xbox ONE and why shouldn't it be as it's already available on Windows. I've said it once and I'll say it again, Planetside 2 has the potential to be the real Halo killer Sony has always wanted. No better way to do that then on Microsoft's home field. What are your thoughts?

edit: Thread Title should be "Higby Interview About planetside 2 for PS4 and CPU Optimization" I was on my phone when i submitted...

No. Microsoft would not allow it on Xbox because Sony is a direct competitor and I doubt Microsoft would want to give them a profit majority on a game on their console. Would it make money? Yes. But more for Sony and less for Microsoft.

If Sony really wanted a Halo killer they would have it on their console only, as a marketing ploy, to pull customers away from Microsoft.

I think, you answered your own question on why it wont go on the XBOX One. Why would they kill their own franchise that's already going downhill, that's so unlike Microsoft (Windows 8)

To me it doesn't make sense not to put it on Xbox after some timed exclusivity, say 1 year. IMO the console war this gen is different from last gen. Both platforms run similar CPUs and GPUs. Planetside 2 has already been made for Windows 8 a OS that the Xbox shares the same kernal with The Xbox now carries a blu ray drive which means Sony gets a royalty per Xbox sold, and was/is really the only reason Sony got involved with the console business to begin with. See Sony's deal with Nintendo that fell through and led to the PS1, PS2 making DVD a standard and continued with PS3 and bluray. The CD, DVD, and bluray are all Sony.

Really, the reason Sony would want to keep Planetside 2 exclusive forever would be so that they can increase their playstation plus memberships, but that's already being subverted by the PC. IMO they would be missing out on ALOT of cash for minimal effort if they keep it exclusive to PS4 forever.

In the end you guys are probably right tho. No sarcasm intended.

I think Jaam's point is that it isn't just Sony's call on this-Microsoft also has to allow it to be on the XBox. Personally, I don't know enough to say whether or not they will, but if they do see it as a potential 'Halo-killer', then Microsoft has no reason to let it go onto XBox and let Planetside compete with Halo.

Sony has already admitted to PlanetSide 2 not requiring a PlayStation Plus account, as it is a Free to Play game. It wouldn't be fair to the gamers if they had to pay for the PlayStation's Multiplayer Online capability to play a multiplayer only free game.
