I'll be on ED tonight if people are on, although my status as a British citizen seems to mean I'm on at different times to everyone else :/ In any case going to hang around on TS most of tonight so I'm sure I'll see you all at some point. I'm loving ED and having people on TS to talk to makes it even better, especially when something funny happens (last time I dropped out of supercruise right into an asteroid - not impressed lol). As the game is still very new and expanding we can also all share advice and tips and learn new things about the game. Voice Attack is fun and useful but doesn't work very well when your on TS lol and I've also got Roccat Power Grid set up on my computer so I can create custom controls on my tablet and set it up like a side panel in my ship.

I still love War Thunder even though the grind is frustrating, I've definitely seen myself swing towards realistic battles over time :) I always swing between games and play lots of games besides these two, but whichever has people to talk to at the time I'm likely to play.

See you all later in space :)

Ross, what is the input delay like with Roccat power grid? I was looking into it before I decided to go with the voice attack trial instead. However I have been slightly disappointed with VA since the delay between me speaking and something happening is big enough that I could have just hit a key. Either way its not that big of deal as all combat related buttons are on my Hotas.

I've tried both and neither delays have really bothered me, but I guess mostly I don't use them for things that require quick reactions. From my experience so far with Power Grid I'd say it was as close to pressing the keyboard key as you can get, allowing for network delay if your Wi-Fi is playing up.

OK thanks I will definitely be trying it then. And I guess the delay was caused more by the time it takes to say the commands, and possibly repeat it if not recognized, than the programming. The other big downside which you mentioned was using it at the same time as TS. It can be done but I really dislike using push to talk.

Agreed, I always end up forgetting to press it and talking to nobody. My biggest problem with Voice Attack was forgetting to commands which ended up in a situation like this:

Coming in for landing in a station at about 25% thrust, as I approach the pad... "All stop.....stop.....engines stop....stop..STOP...STOP!!!!"

    Crash...

It seems very star citizen except they actually have a game that works. Hmmm.... interesting

Very similar games, but also some big differences between them. Star Citizen uses a newtonian based flight model where as Elite uses a more limited one to encourage dog fighting in PVP. Elite is designed to be more about the individual and there ship with multiplayer and group elements added in while Star citizen is encouraging the formation of guilds and corporations. And finally one of the biggest differences is the sheer size. If I remember correctly Star Citizen is going to have some where around 150 systems while Elite currently has close to 550 and will eventually reach 400 billion as they continue to generate the rest of the stars in the Milky Way. There are probably other differences that I am forgetting but this is what I can remember off the top of my head.

Truxaw will be able to go into more detail on how mouse and keyboard plays, but I know that it is playable. Joystick isn't a must but it makes the game a completely different experience.

I feel that it really depends on what you want to do. If you are mainly going to be doing exploration and trading mouse and keyboard will work fine. If you want to be more combat oriented you will be at a pretty big disadvantage especially if you are in PvP and the other person is using a joystick.

And I'm not really sure if that joystick you linked would work or not. If you did need to pick up a cheap one you could get either one of these:
