Defiance

Will anyone be checking it out at release or already got the beta?
Its coming out on April 2 and it kind of looks interesting. Big mix of Secret World, Planetside, Firefall and stuff like that. I was just wondering if its worth getting as a sidegame?

 

I haven't done much research, but I was considering it.

 

I came across it last night when one of my friends was trying to convince me to play Firefall with him. I checked out both games and thought that Defiance is better. We'll see what happens when it comes out I guess. I wish there was a way to get a beta key without pre-ordering it so I can save some money if this game is gonna suck.

 

I got into the beta. It's okay. I didn't join a group while I've been exploring, but I can foresee how gameplay would play out. The story progression is decent and the tactical mechanics and leveling difficulty is fairly well balanced. Despite the jumping mechanic being dumb, the same physics work well with the vehicles to make them fun. The massive co-op events have the same hecticness as a raid which is a bit of a turn off, but the fact you can drop in or out is a nice touch. It's a lot like Borderlands without the dystopian charm. More than anything, it feels dumbed down for the mmporg crowd, but that's because I haven' tried the pvp yet. Even still, I can't imagine it being all that engaging. If anything, I'm more curious about how the storyline will tie into the Syfy channel's series story. I'd say it's worth 50 bucks if you end up really liking the series and are OCD about story arcs, but I wouldn't pay a subscription fee just to be "part of the story". I'd give it a B- after one day of playing. More to follow....

I've played for like a half hour, the graphics rock, I bet that their events gonna look great too because its Trion.

I was planning on trying out Defiance.

Ah, 60 bucks for the game, plus I think a monthly subscription, plus they already have a 40$ DLC pack you can buy. Trion worlds did good with Rift, but I dunno about this game... If I had a hundred bucks sitting around not buying me chicken wings, whiskey, and condoms for my booty call (I don't have a booty call) I would play.

 

Not really my style of game, 3rd person shooter.. hmm I will play Anarchy Online instead. The show is decent, not an A+ show, maybe a B+ but it is the closest thing there is to SciFy on TV now a days... Well Falling Skys is a much better show imo but that is not on until later summer.

We need more space shows like BSG or StarGate(DAMN I was upset when the got rid of SGU, the show was getting good too). Ok I will stop ranting here lol...
