I don't know if I want to purchase it, so I pirated it and rather enjoyed it, so I may very well go about re-installing origin and all that crap in a bit.

game is great a little bit more actioney and cinematic at times but i don't think it hurts it at all. Still has a ton of scary stuff, guns are fun as shit. default normal difficulty is too easy, i'd argue that hard difficulty is about right, but too much ammo and healthpacks everywhere ruin it a bit. After beating the game, the survival mode unlocks and it rectifies all issues i had with the game.
Now that ammo and health doesn't drop from monsters i kill, i have to plan how much of what to bring with me every time i'm at a workbench. Do i load up on ammo or health, for the next part. Do i backtrack to the bench to restock because i missed too many shots, and reloaded my guns in a manner that wastes more ammo than possible (20 clip can give you anywhere from 30-70 shots depending on how much of a clip you waste reloading). Those are the tactical decisions i enjoy. Game is definitely worth the money since most shooters i don't even finish, much less do a second playthrough with.
