Well I have recently been getting into PC gaming, I'm a console player at heart, but I've been neglecting my Xbox for the past 2 months, so I've decided to widened my horizons with PC gaming and a game I've always wanted to play is dayz but I don't feel like buying arma 2, so I heard about standalone, and being the computer dinosaur I am could some tell me the release date for it or a working beta. All the betas I have looked at don't work, and now my local Mazda dealer keeps calling me. (Stupid surveys)
The standalone is still in closed beta. If anyone that isnt a dev tells you otherwise and gives you a DL, don't trust it, it will be a virus. I have been keeping an eye out and from what I know it will be late this year at its earliest. If you want some guys to talk to about DayZ, you can drop down to the DayZ channel when you see Lateralus on and say I sent you. (He will be a bit different from most NNG people)
