Battlefront DICE style

Technically you're all correct. As the resident game developer allow me to shine a light on how the phrase "Actual Game Engine Footage" works, and how they can get around graphical changes.




First, John, The game will look similar to that. Most likely less vibrancy, less aliasing, and possibly more bloom. It is the new frostbite after all, and nothing says frostbite like excessive bloom. (SEE NOTE AT BOTTOM)

Sean, I agree. waiting to see gameplay is crucial. This is EA, and they've been deceptive on numerous occasions. However, I would at this point if I were you, buy your ticket to board the hype train. Because you should be on it. (ALSO SEE NOTE AT BOTTOM)

Okole, None of what that video was, was gameplay. And it was heavily scripted. That was a cinematic event rendered out using the frostbite engine. Nothing was controlled or altered by a player controller, event, or trigger. All movement and actions were done on a predefined order, via scripting language. HOWEVER. It could have been gameplay recorded from an 'observer' style camera that was then edited and cut. I believe this to be unlikely though.

In my professional opinion this was nothing more than a pretty, and heavily enhanced and altered in-engine rendered out scene.





NOTE: This is derived from the actual engine. That is fact. If you want a good ballpark as to what the game will actually look like, Dragon Age: Inquisition was created using the same engine. Look at gameplay & cutscenes of DA:I and compare it to this cinematic trailer. I would guesstimate SWB's graphics being better than all DA:I footage, but slightly worse than this trailer's footage.

Either way it will be VERY pretty. but ti's EA. so weather it's VERY working or not is an entirely different story.

 

Let's all make believe that episodes 1-3 were a terrible nightmare and expect that battlefront and episode VII will be on par with what we all grew up loving. OH! I would pay extra for there to be a Jar-Jar shooting gallery though.
