Battlefield 3 DLC Consistency and Expectations

With the thought that EA could unleash three times the amount of downloadable content for BF3, we thought we would gauge how gamers would feel about increasing Battlefield 3 DLC consistency, and also look at some expectations on these as well. For the most part fans of the game love the idea, but that’s not saying that they are happy with the fact that the publisher is not doing all they can to make even more money from the franchise.

Activision has always offered a great number of DLC for their games, so do you think that it makes sense for EA to do the same? Some gamers have said that if you don’t like the idea of spending more money on new content then you are not forced to buy the game, but then again they can buy the game, just not bother with new downloadable content.

For the most part three times the amount of DLC is a welcome one, and will certainly give BF3 much more scope in terms of gameplay. There is no denying how popular Back to Karkand (list of assignments) has been, so we are certain that fans of the game will want many more like that. With this new content comes maps, and while some fans will not like the idea of rehashed maps, most will love the thought of revisiting maps from Bad Company 2, although they would need to be redesigned.

An article here has suggested Panama Canal map could be another hit for BF3, as it will keep gamers entertained for a while thanks to its size. However, to bring the map up-to-date EA could bring in some extra hardware, such as new jet fighters and helicopters. It’s all very well bringing in some of the old maps, but some new ones will be even better. Having said that, fans do love the idea of holding on to something that they love, and there is no denying that maps from Bad Company 2 were very popular.

While the ideas of new DLC are endless there are some that seem more appealing than others. The first is a Vietnam DLC, although some would say that this has already been done and would much rather something different, maybe 2143 (there is an Easter Egg in Back to Karkland that points to this)? However, one suggestion that keeps coming up time and again is Normandy. Okay, this has also been done to death like Vietnam but there is still a lot of life left in Normandy, although some may disagree.

Do you feel that EA should go down this route, or stick with maps that are up-to-date? There is a lot going on in the world today, so much so that there are an endless number of ideas. If you could choose the next BF3 DLC what would it be? There is one feature that would be loved in the next Battlefield 3 update, and that is a Spectator Mode, which we have discussed in detail in a recent article.
