With Auroria just around the corner, and the new 10-man raid, Serpentis coming along with it, it means that we need to form up some raid groups!

These will be an 'always being formed' kind of thing, where each group will traditionally require 2 tanks, 2 healers, and 6 DPS. ArcheAge's class system allows for so much play that maybe having one or two less DPS and having a set support, not a healer, not a damage dealer, but a pure group buffer/clenser. Who knows.

Now, those of you unfamiliar with MMOs and raiding there are a few simple FAQs about raiding I would like to answer here to clarify everything for everyone.

Q: How geared should I be?
A: You should have your hasla weapon, tempered fully, frosted, and socketed, and full GHA gear. Arcane+.

Q: Will all that gear really be completely necessary?
A: I don't know. But we should go in prepared with the best that is currently available to us.

Q: How do I show intrest in being apart of the first Raid Group?
A: Approach either mortos, myself, or one of the officers and tell them that you would like to be apart of it.

    Q: Will I be evaluated?
A: To a point. We will ask you about your current gear set up and It should at minimum match the above requirements.

Q: Let's say we kick ass like always and start downing bosses right out the door, how will it be determined who gets loot out of 10 people?
A: All raid leaders may do something differently. However I will be setting the loot rules to lootmaster and I will be one by one clicking on the items that dropped. Select roll only if you need it. (obviously XD ) And if you win it, your name will be recorded and you will be barred from rolling on further loot until everyone who could be rolling against the same stuff you are has won 1 piece of gear. It's all about fairness.*

Q: This sounds awesome! When do we get started?!
A: Once Auroria is launched, I hope to have enough people to choose from to form the first raid group. We will then all sit down and discuss a time that works best for everyone. It will be a 2.5-3hr timeslot.

Q: What happens if i'm not picked?
A: if you're not picked for the first team don't sweat it. We're currently limited by the amount of tanks we have, whereas we have a massive surplus in DPS. The best team-oriented and geared DPS will be chosen first. (And by team-oriented I mean those who've participated in guild events a lot. I needed to have/do something as a secondary stipulation as we're all pretty much equally geared.)

Q: Can I be in multiple Raid Groups? Even if they don't conflict?
A: No. You can ask members of another raid group to fill for one of your players, if the game allows, i.e. no lockouts, however one person cannot be in two teams simultaneously.

Q: I want new gear soooo badly. This GHA set doesn't look that great...
A: Don't worry. This first raid group isn't going in for the loot alone. We're going in to learn the fight, experience the setting, and to get familiar with the raids mechanics. Loot is just a secondary acquisition for this group. We're going to be going in so we can share to everyone the tricks and secrets of the instance, so everyone in the guild can get the gear eventually.

Q: Who will lead raid teams?
A: Officers will be the ones in charge of leading a raid team. If a second, new team is to form it's leader may be promoted within the guild. As far as this first group goes, if the other leaders @Mortos or @Mustarde don't have an Issue with it, I would love to run it. But this can be also decided at a closer time.

And those are all the question's I had written down! If I missed anything or you have another question feel free to ask and I'll include it above!

Otherwise I will see you in Serpentis!

By voting yes and selecting your role, you are nominating yourself to be a candidate for the first raid group.
If you vote no, please let me know what you are interested in so we can cater to your likes as well.

I know i'm suuuuper excited to start getting people in here it looks fun as hell. And I cannot wait to get this show on the road. So spread the word!

*The fairly distributed gear system elaborated via example:

I'm a primeval. I wear leather and main a bow. Jaamaw is a shadowblade, he wears leather and mains swords. Friednug is also a primeval who wears leather and mains a bow. I win the roll on leather boots. I will now be barred from rolling on any other piece of loot until both Jaamaw and Friednug have each obtained 1 piece of loot. Hands, Chest, Boots, sword, it doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is what the loot item is that dropped, who does it apply to, and who hasn't won anything yet.

The only exemptions to this are special drops, i.e mounts, battle pets. However, obviously, if you've won that mount or battle pet, don't roll on it a second time XD

I just clicked Hell Yes and submitted. I didn't pick a roll because I just assumed I could only click one thing.

I'm going to be able to provide dps roll for sure, likely dps/support via songcraft/auramancy, and I'm quite interested in gearing a mage tank as a Skullknight. I still really want to gear as a Skullknight, I just need to get past that nice scepter & shield combo barrier.

I have intentions on getting the Hasla healer 2hander so that if I play the roll of full support I have more +healing power for the few support heals available to Songcraft. Also so that I can heal 5mans after I eventually level Vitalism =P

Im not sure about this loot system. If im a leather wearer I wouldn't want to run anymore if I wasn't even allowed to roll. IMO we should have everything rolled on with priorities. For instance a pair of leather gloves drop that are green you win the roll. andother set of arcane or rare leather gloves drop, you don't roll if you have them already and someone doesn't even have green. A stone arrow may need a sheild but the main tank definitely needs it more at least when it first drops. We're not a huge guoild and we may not even be able to run this dungeoon because of the low amount of people tanking and healing, and because of the low amount of people who are even GHA geared.

Basically don't be an asshole. Have fair rolls, and keep it simple. We aren's some massive guild that needs spreadsheets and charts of gear and DKP or whatever the fuck. I trust that everyone has the guts to say, "I already have that?", or "Does anyone need this?" So I don't think this system is necessary

Also, lets not start making requirements before we know more info about the dungeon, because TBH we know very little. Based of even some of the requirements in the post none of the leadership can participate. full tempered, all arcane+, and socket and enchanted is a huge investment on replaceable gear and is frankly a little extreme.

One question I have is who will be raid leading these runs?

Looks good. As far as loot goes, for the 10 years Ive raided hardcore and the few casually, tanks always get priority, followed by healers to a degree. I dont know how gear dependent these raids will be though, so I guess it may not be necessary. It just follows that a dead tank prevents progression pretty quickly.

    Gear requirements:
This is my situation, since I started in the game a little later than most of you guys, I've been trying to catch up as fast as I could but in any game getting gear always takes time.
I currently have almost full GHA set with an exception of couple of pieces. Frankly, it doesn't make sense for me to regrade my greens knowing that I may be able to replace it with a blue or a purple in the next run. I mean the odds of that are pretty slim but still. I had to spend about 200g on regrading my green helm which was a huge set back for me, but I do believe in min/maxing when it comes down to PVE.

Either way, in preparation for 10mans, can we farm the shit out of that place over the weekend? I'm sure we got plenty of people who still need gear and I find it to be more fun than riding a trade cart ;)

Absolutely. I do agree with the loot system actually as well. When I did hardcore pve raiding in SWTOR our main raid team had a rule of one item per run. So if gloves you need drop and you take that roll and win it, then that is your item for the raid. Now if something drops that absolutely no one needs and its indicated as such then that item can then be given out or used in a free roll.

It will be very important that a list be kept of who needs what and who has what so the raid lead can designate drops as they go along. Its not a trust thing it is just the way I've seen top tier raiders roll for a very long time.

I will say that I agree with @ThaneKrios priority idea. I.e. a tank would benefit more from a shield immediately whereas a stone arrow would benefit less in the short run, and in the group scenario. So that is something we can definitely look into.

And as far as who runs raid groups, all Raid Leaders will be officers as they need to be able to access the raid storage chests. I will also add it to the FAQ. Anyone is free at a random time to form up a group to go raiding, however the set raid teams will have designated raiding times, and depending on the lockouts, if there are any, those on raid teams may not be able to just jump in one whenever.

    @Phaedo
What consumables are we expected to have for the initial progression?
Depending upon difficulty, will we be starting with dry runs at first just to learn the mechanics or going balls deep on every attempt?

Keep in mind, prices on consumables will go through the roof for the first few weeks following the release. It may not be a bad idea to start stacking up now.

Jaam can make potions and Phaedo has been apparently working on mats for him. Other than that Jaam and I are always working on our potion business, I'll let him do the ad ;)
