So for a while it seemed everyone, and their mother, had grabbed Arma 3 through steam via the sales period. If you remember this basically amounted to lots of King of the Hill gameplay. Basic and fun but seriously repetitive. After a week or so most of our members got tired of it and it sort of died off. Following this I would like to see some return to Arma to view all of its gamemodes and experience it to its full entirety. Enter the Breaking Point mod.

For many of us, hopefully most, we can see what put arma "on the map." DayZ. A simple but addictive game mode of survival in the face of a zombie apocalypse. Breaking point is Arma 3's take on Dayz. It's not the standalone but offers a unique twist on the concept of Dayz. One where classes are thrown into the mix and added to a different set of maps with the core gameplay very much intact.

These classes include Ranger, Nomad, and Survivalists(Good-guys) vs. the Outlaw and Hunter(Bad-guy) classes. Each class has it's own distinct advantages and progressions for levels 1 to 3.

So far it has only been Murasa, Mortos, Phaedo, and myself to play this mod. I genuinely think there is some potential here for the enjoyment of our other members. Completely voluntary and no-strings game play ensues. I would like to anyone who seems interested to PM me or simply ask us on TS sometime. Come one and all who want to get more out of Arma 3's engine and design.

This was raised to me at the last meeting. I will more than likely purchase arma 3 to play this as well as other arma 3 game variants, I.e wasteland. What are some of the special features that seperate the standalone from breaking point ?

The most notable one is the factions/classes, so basically you'd see a bit less of kill on sight players. I'd say I like it better because it's truly a survival game rather than running around and shooting people.

Also: VEHICLES! Right now BP has vehicles, although the standalone is still working on getting those. Big difference. Also, I find it so much easier to use the Arma 3 engine rather than the Arma 2 engine.

Some people made a comparison in this reddit post: http://www.reddit.com/r/breakingpoint/comments/22xocf/dayz_or_breaking_point/

Yeah for the longest time BP was a no-class system but they implemented it recently to "try" to combat the shoot-first-questions-later kind of reactions typical from most people who play these gamemodes.

Vehicles are in, as murasa had said. One the zomebies are also different compared to the Original Dayz. Meaning that these zombies walk at you as if they are "Walking Dead" style. One exciting thing is that the Devs are trying to implement other zombie types as well. But they have more info on their website about that.

Lastly you don't play on Chenarus. I think there are about 4 different maps you can choose to play on. As of right now we're just on Altis which is Arma 3's standard map.

You brought up a good point Mike. Arma 3 is an incredible sandbox and the amount of gamemodes for it will only increase. We should organize some BP and Wasteland gameplay. Wasteland is awesome.

Domination is the best mode of Arma 3 mp imho. If we all played that this weekend it'd be a farking blast. Ops at dawn or night vision missions working as a team to clear towns of hundreds of AI soldiers is a blast. And they ain't dumb ai either so don't be fooled! In Domi you clear town after town that are miles and miles apart. There are side missions. Stealth missions. Destruction missions. And you have Jets, helps, tanks and all kinds of other vehicles to get you around the insanely huge map. Sometimes just getting the team into a ghosthawk chopper and finding a sweet landing zone at the ao is half the fun =)

I'd be in on that. I remember playing similar gamemodes on Arma 2. Honestly there are a lot of great modes out there but most of our members have only played KoTH. Thats just the tip of the iceberg though.
