Downloaded the DFM and farted around in it for a while and cant fly my ship worth shit. I do very well in WarThunder so .... idk.

I can' shoot down one ship, so much over steer, unplayable at this point. I've turned my mouse settings way down.

    How are you guys doing?

You really have to take your time with it. You turn really fast so always be prepared to adjust back on target once you see them. With mouse and keyboard, if you move your miuse a tiny bit it will adjust to that course.
But if you move it off far to any direction it will keep going that way until you pull it back.
As for shooting, thus will be for the 300i. The nose guns are useless on a turning target unless you are very close and lead them. Damage wise they are only good for taking down shields. The wing guns fire slower but the projectile is faster and does good damage. I use them take down ships.
The aiming reticle turns a green circle when you are somewhat near the ship. This can be used to lead shots upclose. It becomes a green square when you are really close so you can land a shot so long as you lead slightly.
The enemy turns fast and moves a lot but are made of paper. They also will fly towards you a lot and try to ram you. You have better armaments and they are flying in a straight line so this is a great time to kill or get in good damage.

I haven't been on much the past week. I did well joystick flying, I still need to rebind it, and instructions on how to do it that don't look like Egyptian Hieroglyphics. You get used to t over steer and learn how to compensate for it

How hard is it with a joystick? I'm tempted to get a super cheap joystick and try both WT and SC with one.

As far as I understand it, there's a bit of concern with the current joystick layout right now. =x

Right now, after getting used it, it's pretty damn fun with a joystick. I'm using a Thrustmast Flight-X hotas which you can get for ~50 bucks. What really helps is to change the Yaw and Roll to be opposite of the default layout. What also helps is flying with both the safety offs and controlling your speed with the throttle. Combine all of this with voice attack and its pretty fun.

All that said I still feel that the way M&K controls currently will still give an advantage at further ranges. I do feel however that Joystick/Gamepad users will have more control of the ship.

Just a quick correction from what someone above said. When your sights are a green diamond it means your targeting computer has a solution, and will automatically lead your target for you. I've nailed targets over 3 km away letting the computer aim. It only will get a lock if you're within the center of your guns firing arcs, which in the 300i is a narrow area near the center of the HUD.
