30 Minute TeamSpeak Idle Kick Enacted

After some discussion among the NNG Leadership Team we have decided to enact a 30 minute idle kick timer on TeamSpeak.

• This will prevent users from taking up necessary slots.
• This was becoming a problem as we neared our max client limit (75) on several occasions.
• 30 minutes is a reasonable amount of time to grab a bite, take a dump, or do whatever you need to do if you plan to return.
• Reconnecting only takes 2 mouse clicks and is not an inconvenience.
• Sitting in TS if you're not around is unnecessary.

Will this affect the afk channel as well, also are you 100% sure you got the timer correct? Remember the last debacle

 

The change is based on server groups. Right now it is applied to all server groups. So in other word, no matter what channel you are in, you have 30 minutes to be AFK.

The AFK channel has always been a sore spot for me. AFK typically means, "brb, I am away from my keyboard at the moment". Not, "I'm spending the weekend in the city but have decided to sit in this channel and use up a server slot".

I don't mind having an AFK channel, but sitting in there for over 30 minutes seems pointless. Just rejoin when you come back. That isn't being too harsh is it?

And thanks for the reminder that I can't distinguish between 30 seconds and 30 minutes lol

 

No problem, just that sometimes I run out for 45 minutes or so to pic up my kids and run to the store, but as long as its written in stone that its 30 minutes no matter where I park my big ass, I'm cool with it.
