No Hitchikers yet? (To be honest, I actually like Adams' Dirk Gently books better than the HHGtG series.)

My favourite book ever is Watership Down. Epic plot, totally original mythology, beautiful British narrative, starring rabbits. What's not to love?

Let's see... what else... most of Lovecraft's works. The Sherlock Holmes stories. Some of Philip K. Dick's stuff was good. I actually read a lot of sci-fi short story anthologies, moreso than novels. Sci-fi novels tend to be really terrible, even the classics.

As a Fox with Sunglasses constantly on (see picture), I can't read. I'm amazed I can even play this game or type. But if I could read I would read The Hunger Games, The Cartoon Guide to Physics (as well as The Cartoon Guide to Chemistry, Genetics, Calculus, etc.), A Brief History of Time, The Great Gatsby, and a couple others, but I think that gives a taste of what I like.

G.R.R. Martin: A Song of Ice and Fire series.

Adrian Tchaikovsky: Shadows of the apt series.

    Andrzej Sapkowski: The Witcher series.

Ian M. Banks: I like his culture books.

    Terry Pratchett: Discworld series.

David J. Griffiths: His 'Introduction to Electrodynamics' and his 'Introduction to Quantum Mechanics' are full of jokes which make for an enjoyable reading.

John R. Taylor: 'Classical Mechanics'. Which have become my reference point for a good textbook.

    Alan Moore: 'Watchmen'.

Douglas Adams: Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy series.

    Among others
    EDIT: Which include

    Patrick O'Brian: Aubrey-Marturin series.

    Robert A. Heinlein: 'Starship Troopers'.

Touno Mamare: The manga adaptation 'Maoyuu Maou Yuusha - "Kono Watashi no Mono Tonare, Yuusha yo" "Kotowaru!"'

I don't usually read fiction, as I'm into Autobiographies. I don't know why, my dad got me into them. here are some of my favorites (both fiction and Bio)

Phillip Norman - John Lennon: The Life
Homer Hickam - October Sky Series (really inspiring stuff)
Doris Kearns Goodwin - Team of Rivals: The political genius of Abraham Lincoln - Read this in college, loved it.
David Mitchel - Cloud Atlas - It's pretty dang good. I would encourage anyone to pick it up.
Chuck Palahniuk - fight club, Choke.
J.K. Rowling - Harry Potter Series obviously

really wanting to get into good fantasy and sci fi books as i just finished Cloud Atlas, I'll be taking a look at the suggested book listed above for sure.

Going to recommend the Malazan Book of the Fallen (which is actually ten separate books) for the serial fantasy readers. Also seconding Doomforge on Patrick Rothfuss. That guy can write.

Still haven't gotten around to reading Hitchhiker's, should get around to that.
