Who said anything about giving high end stuff? Hes a brand spanking new player. Anything at this point is better than what he has.

Hell yeah, I love stuff!!! :)

I got into a couple slightly higher lever runs last night and that shit was intense.
Going to continue to work on unlocking new missions and planets.

from what I know, there's usually a minimum credit you have to pay to help keep boosting new players too much. But then again I would always afford it after I had virus give me some plat a year ago so idk if they changed it

You have to trade something back. In other words I cant give him something for nothing. So to get around this he can just give the person trading him a shit mod, like Smite (faction) or Pressure Point (because you will end up with a million of them eventually anyway) or any common mod.

I didn't know that. I used to run the market with the penny-nickel method. I don't really trade anymore because I'm out of platinum anyway

Yes there is a minimum ingame credits you spend. But not the Platinum currency, the one you get from missions. It is tied to sales and is higher for more powerful/high level mods or it may be tied to rarity. Either way a new player will have to run a few missions to afford these fees.
Like Zero has said, you can give a bad mod in exchange as the system doesn't enforce a balance on mod trading as in equal power/rarity mods for another. Platinum is just an option in the trade that can be given to balance a trade if you are getting a really hard to get mod or max rank useful mod.
