I am dying to know what everyone is thinking and get some realy stats down on what everyone really thinks about the new maps. So its simple. Do you like Armored Kill or not? Please explain to the class so everyone knows why. :)

    I don't hate it no.

The maps are scaled like BF2 maps were which is how they should have been from the beginning. There is also more armor and air vehicles which continue to add towards that original BF2 feeling. The golden age of the Battlefield. So much emphasis was put into gunplay when BF3 was released that it felt weird to have a bunch of vehicles packed into such small maps.

You couldn't drive 10 meters or fly 10 meters without everyone on the map knowing exactly where you were.

With the increased player count on our server I think we'll see more balance of infantry vs. infantry and infantry vs. armor.

I suspect some people may have a sour taste in their mouth from the change that is occurring in BF3 now in Armored Kill, but the way it behaves now is exactly how all old BF titles used to behave, people just have to adapt.

    Give it time.

I miss the good old nng server, pls bring it back. We can add more maps in the rotation not only the AK pack.
... or dare i say, a !mapvote function to let players vote on an array of maps that had been selected by us.
Those are just my 2cents, i think the 64slots in the server would fill up quicker.

Also, 64 players on the smaller maps may not work out as well anymore.

    Anything can happen though.

We may have to start experimenting soon, I haven't seen the AK server get past 24 players today.

I think Ghost is right on the money, though I'm sad to see that its true. Given this we're likely looking at more of a BF3 sized future than a BF2 sized one...

Loki, I have no problem with the mapvote function, but the past has taught us that its a huge mistake to mix expansions in our map list. CMW is ranked #2 in the world, and somehow manages Vanilla + B2K, but they're the exception, not the rule. Mixing maps from different expansions causes a lot of issues with the server browser, and CMW circumvents that by being ranked high enough to have enough people with them on their favorites list to stay full regardless.

But logistics aside, what is it specifically that you miss about the old 48 man vanilla server? Are you more of an infantry player? If so, I suggest trying to get on when we're at capacity. AK maps with 48 players were too armor focused, but with 64 players they provide a balance similar to the Vanilla maps with 48.

I love it and right now I can't even go back to the old maps, it's like a new game for me. I even think they need to go as far as to add the new vehicles, including the AC-130, to the old maps.

I like Armored Kill for the same reasons you guys do.

But I also liked the "vanilla" and B2K maps a lot. Like Loki, I would like both types of maps in the rotation, but I understand the problem that creates. In that case, I'd like to see one NNG AK server (64 players) and one NNG old maps server (48 players). I do enjoy running in a tank now and then, but sometimes I just want to rape infantry as..... an infantryman.

Just my thoughts. I'm in no rush to go either way, but I'd like it to be sorted out eventually. Either way I can get my MVP ribbons.

Oh we know you can. I recommend trying out the Armored Kill maps when we're full now. Like I told Loki, 64 people on Armored Kill offers a similar infantry - vehicle ratio to the Vanilla maps. Plus we've set the vehicle spawn to 150 to compensate for the larger player count while keeping the armor spam in check.

As for a second server, the 24 player one was shut down. It was being paid for by an NNG member that isn't really active anymore, and let it expire. If we want to bring back a 24 player server, I might be able to swing that financially, but donations are always appreciated. The nice thing about having a small server running the console sized maps, mixing expansions, and perhaps even running "custom" (i.e. Hardcore Infantry Only) modes, is that its easier to fill. 8 - 10 of us could decide to play on it one night and fill it to 24 without much trouble. However, as Ghost can attest to, ranking up another server from the bottom is a tough thing to do. A small server will be something that will most likely remain dead unless we play in it, and if its dead less of us are likely to play in it. Kind of a catch 22.
