So I've forced myself to keep playing despite some bad experiences, and here's where I've landed so far:

    Infantry Experience:
-The posturing, leaning, and over all control you have over your character, weapon, and equipment is awesome.
-Engagement distances are long, but this is as much about map design as anything. If BF3 maps were that big with so little cover, the engagement distances would be similar. Playing in the "town" area felt more like a traditional, although slower FPS.
-Guns feel weak and bit unsatisfying to shoot. Getting a kill still feels unsatisfying as well.
-The inventory system is still shit and doesn't make sense.

    Vehicles:
-As bad as BF3 physics are, these are worse. Air physics however, are spot on.
-Shooting from vehicles is also unrewarding. The AH6 has rocket pods and a minigun. Firing both are only slightly more exhilarating than actually pushing the button on your keyboard/mouse.

    Editor:
-What little fun I've had with the game thus far has been due to the editor.
-Much easier to understand than Arma II and simpler large scale changes.

    Multiplayer:
-Slow paced, lots of running if you don't have transpo.
-Either set aside an hour or two for a game or don't bother.
-Mandatory teamwork. While nice in theory, the advantages of teamwork go away when everyone uses it.

Overall it could be fun with some adequately built missions in the editor, but right now it feels like an Arma II paint job. Those of you that think it will be huge and you'll get into, try Arma II first and if you don't like it, don't bother. Getting a decent sized team together could be fun, but most of the joy would come from the meta experience of teamwork rather than doing anything in the game itself.

This is what I find most valuable. It's the build up and the teamwork emphasis that makes the game-play incredible. It doesn't always have to be the ADHD KILL KILL KILL. It takes planning and being thorough then when you achieve something it's that much more rewarding. Most modern shooters people play leave them bored if they aren't getting at least one kill about every 30 seconds.

Ive played Arma 2 for quite a while, and got the Arma 3 alpha the minute it went live. I tell anyone not to compare to BF3 or other shooters, cause frankly it isnt a shooter. Go into it as it being a simulator, cause at it';s heart that is what it is. I find it more fun to approach it that way, get in deeper with the AI control (ytou can go so deep as to micro-manage AI logistics for ammo runs and vehicle transport).

That said, after a week in Arma 3, im in awe. Jaw dropping game.

Feel free to add me in steam and hit me up anytime for anything. Im currently really hooked on Wasteland.

Hey man they're not bad. Things have momentum. No more maneuvering on a dime.

I absolutely LOVED the air physics in Arma 2 - if it's anything like that, I'm sold. Now if I could just get an invite...
